The Persian language is being taught in 40 universities across the Asian nation of India, a professor says.

The Persian language is necessary to the people of India as it provides a historical part of their identity, said Delhi Mehdi Bagherkhan, a Persian language and literature professor at the Islamic National University of New Delhi.

“The Persian language belongs to the entire Indian subcontinent and has been the official language of India for more than 800 years in a way that works in Urdu and Hindi seen much of it yet,” he added.

The professor went on to say that the Persian language is currently being taught in 40 universities across India and can be developed more.

The Persian language has provided a bridge between cultures in the West and East as well as the Arab world.

Persian is considered the second Islamic language due to its notable contributions to human civilization in general and the Islamic one in particular and due to the outstanding amount of Islamic traditional heritage written, thus conserved, in it.

The Persian language is a language of literature, art, science and human tradition. It has, as well, the character of being easy to learn, to influence, and to be influenced particularly when linked to Arabic.

The southeastern European country of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted over 1,700 words from the Persian language, which is known as the language of poetry in Bosnia and used since the Ottoman rule, having mostly entered the Bosnian language through Turkish.
